August 19: New Member Orientation
The chamber will hold an information session for new members from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on August 19, 2010 at the chamber office at 100 Main Street, Smithfield. Members will have the opportunity to learn more about benefits, educational, and networking opportunities.
August 26: Small Business Development Center Consultations by Appointment
The Chamber is currently accepting reservations for consultations with a representative from the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads. The SBDC representative provides one-on-one guidance to business owners on the many issues of entrepreneurship. There is no charge for this service. Consultations are by appointment only. Contact Lori at 357-3502 or at lwhite@thechamber.org for information and/or appointment.
September 8: Annual Meeting
The Board of Directors will hold the chamber's annual meeting in the Garden at Smithfield Foods, 200 Commerce Street, Smithfield on September 8 at 6:30 p.m.
September 16-19: Isle of Wight County Fair
The fair is held at the Joel C. Bradshaw Fairgrounds at Heritage Park, 21311 Courthouse Highway, Windsor, Virginia. For more information call (757) 371-2291.
September 23: Entrepreneur Express
Will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Smithfield Center, 220 North Church Street, Smithfield. This free workshop offers information and interactive discussions which cover key elements of business practices. The workshop is co-hosted by the Chamber and Isle of Wight County Department of Economic Development in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance.
October 20: Isle Fest
The chamber's largest networking event of the year. The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and features food and entertainment.
November 18: State of the County Breakfast
The chamber's annual State of the County Breakfast will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 201 Cedar Street, Smithfield, from 8:00 to 10 a.m.
